Saturday 16 April: Vergilian Foot Race Group Run / Cursus Vergilianus

8:30 a.m. at 121 Fitness Center, 2130 Adelbert Road, Cleveland OH

Join the 121 Fitness Center Running Club for a 5-kilometer group run to honor Vergil. Meet at 121 Fitness Center, next to the windmill on CWRU Campus.

 

Sunday 17 April: Drawing in the Ancient Near Eastern, Greek, and Roman Galleries at the Cleveland Museum of Art

2:30 – 4:30 p.m. Cleveland Museum of Art, 11150 East Blvd, Cleveland OH

Join us at the Cleveland Museum of Art on Sunday 17 April from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the museum’s Ancient Near Eastern, Greek, and Roman galleries. All students in high school, art school, and university are eligible to make a drawing inspired by one or more of the pieces in the collection and enter it in the Vergil Week 2016 Art contest. There is no entrance fee but student artists are asked to register in advance by sending an e-mail to professor Timothy Wutrich (trw14@case.edu). For full contest details click here.

 

Monday 18 April: Art Contest and Exhibition

1:30 – 3:30 p.m. Art Studio, 2215 Adelbert Road, Cleveland OH 44106

The contest is open to high school and university students and judged by graduate students in Art Education. The exhibition will feature student and faculty art inspired by Vergil and Greco-Roman civilization. Rules and registration material can be downloaded here.

 

Tuesday 19 April: Latin Recitation Contest

Wednesday 20 April: Meeting of the Collegium Poetarum

7:00 p.m. Tinkham Veale University Center, 11038 Bellflower Road, Cleveland OH

Local high school and university faculty meeting to discuss future projects in poetic performance for philosophical reflection. ADVANCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

 

Thursday 21 April: Continuous Public Reading of the Aeneid in English

All are invited to join in a complete reading of the Aeneid.
