Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree, with a strong academic record (a recommended GPA of 3.5 or greater) and at least one year of college-level Greek or Latin study. Students must be highly motivated and have a strong reason for mastering ancient languages as well as a realistic appreciation of the work entailed.

  • Academic Transcripts
    • Unofficial transcripts can be uploaded onto the application for review.
    • Official transcripts showing your highest degree earned will need to be submitted to the School of Graduate Studies before you can be accepted to the program. Mail or email them officially to:
  • Personal Statement
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
    • Please have your recommenders mail or email these documents to the department:

  • GRE Scores are considered but not required–they can be submitted online through ETS. Please inform the department via email if you would like your GRE to be considered.

Submit application materials online through CWRU Graduate Studies Department. Applicants must apply via the the “Non-Degree” application and then choose “Certificate in Classics” for applicant type.

Applications for Fall 2020 must be submitted by April 20, 2020 for consideration.
